Lo de la basura espacial es algo que ya se está pensando como un problema real que ya existe, quizás esto fue lo que inspiró a los investigadores de la Universidad de Bristol a crear un robot ecológico cuyas piezas no estén basadas en metales que tardan siglos en descomponerse y ser asimilados por la tierra, si no en materiales biodegradables.
Pero el ecorobot ideado por estos ingenieros va más allá y como indican en Phys, la idea es que el propio robot sea autónomo y funcione con la biomasa que encuentre en su entorno. Si esto se consigue con éxito, podemos estar hablando de un organismo artificial creado por el hombre que es capaz de alimentarse, morir cuando su vida útil haya acabado y descomponerse como el resto de los seres mortales que habitamos este planeta.
